Nick Aspinwall is a journalist and editor based primarily in Taipei, Taiwan. He has contributed to The Diplomat, SupChina, The Nation, Washington Post, Foreign Policy, New Naratif, The Interpreter, News Deeply and Roads and Kingdoms.
He is an editor for Ketagalan Media, a Taiwan-focused online media website. He previously edited the English-language edition of The News Lens, a Taipei-based online media startup.
He is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts – Amherst with a BA in Journalism. His intrepid travels have brought him to over 35 countries, including extensive time venturing around China’s far western mountains, deserts, and far-flung national borders.
When he’s not reporting, he can be found on a diving boat or perhaps stranded deep within a remote mountain range. He speaks conversational Mandarin and has achieved fluency in appreciating the earthly wonder that is Southwest Chinese lajiao.
